Re “District Warms up to Begin Culver High Principal Search”

“We have not targeted an exact date for making a choice, but we want to kick off this process pretty early for a couple of reasons,” he said.

“One, to insure we have the richest, deepest candidate pool as well as to be able to make a decision thoughtfully and thoroughly.

“That way, if we have multiple candidates, we want to make sure we build in the time to invest the people and the attention to a decision that is this important.

“This is especially true,” said Mr. LaRose, “with a comprehensive high school in a one-high school district. And, to also be able to make a decision so we will be able to build in transition time if necessary.”

To the question of whether he will be the point person in the search, Mr. LaRose replied that “I will play a role.

“The process will include a variety of stakeholders, everything from screening to initial interviews to full team interviews. I will be a part of cabinet interviews, and then one-to-one, with finalists going  before the School Board.”

As for the Board’s role, “they will be contributing their perspective as it relates to interests, characteristics and qualities. We will engage a variety of different groups from their lens. So certainly the Board will have a lens on that.

“One of the final interviews will include the Board president and myself,” said the superintendent.
