La Ballona Elementary School will celebrate its sixth annual Fall Festival next Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 to 4 on the campus, 10915 Washington Blvd.
“Join us and support our school,” says Catalina Pop, La Ballona Booster Club co-president. “Enjoy delicious food, fun games, entertainment and raffles.”
The Fall Festival will feature a Dia De Los Muertos theme.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind Fall Festival that celebrates the popular Mexican tradition,” says La Ballona Booster Club co-president Joy Kecken.

Activities will be outside on the main playground at La Ballona, at the back entrance of the property. Families, friends and community members are welcome at the free afternoon.
Discounted pre-sale tickets for games, inflatables, food and activities wo;; be available through next Friday, before and after school at the front and back entrances, and online at www.laballona.com Costs are $20 for 25 tickets (used for games and food) and $10 wristband for all day use of the inflatables. Tickets may be purchased on the day of the Festival for $1 each and the all-day inflatable pass for $15.
For the kids, the Festival will feature The Exploratory, a Culver City innovative learning design lab for children, providing a maker station on site.
La Ballona officials will offer a mini-train ride, two huge climb-and-slide inflatables, a bounce house for toddlers, food booths, a bake sale, and more than 20 carnival-like games and activities.
Highlights span arts and crafts, big bubble wands, crazy hair, paint-a-pumpkin, face painting, a selfie booth, soccer goal-kick, water balloon toss…. and many more. Ms. Pop encourages to “be one of the first 25 people dressed in the `Day of the Dead’ theme and you’ll receive a Yogurtland gift certificate.”
In addition, there will be community tables where Culver City residents can meet the Mayor and School Board members.
The La Ballona principal and teachers will give away gently used books. Vendors will promote their goods and sharing information. Expect to come ready to buy sand art, candles, massages, clothing and more. “This is one of my favorite La Ballona traditions,” shares Principal Jennifer Slabbinck. “It is a great way for families and the community to become more familiar with all of the things that make La Ballona the impressive and special school that it is.”
The Festival will also include all-day entertainment featuring: the Culver City High School Band, Sharon Edith – La Voz de Angel, La Ballona Folklore Dance, and Double Dragon Tae Kwon Do.
Food Corner: Authentic pupusas, tacos and pizza will be sold at great prices. We will also feature homemade desserts and beverages for sale. Bake sale items are only $1.
