If you are walking in Downtown Culver City on any weeknight, you might pass Gyenari and not know that it is one of Culver City’s niftiest restaurants.
Unless, of course, you were in the neighborhood last Monday.
On that evening, Gyenari teamed up with El Marino Language School to host a fundraiser for the school.
Hundreds of parents, students and community members showed up to lend their support and to enjoy the food.
Among the notablespresent were former Mayor Alan Corlin, former City Treasurer Crystal Alexander, Planning Commissioner John Kuechle, former School Board member Barbara Honig, who doubles as the wife of the Vice Mayor.
Peripatetic School Board member Scott Zeidman was there throughout the evening as well.
Dining on a variety of dishes, including traditional Korean barbecue, seafood, vegetarian fare and even hamburgers, those in attendance enjoyed exceptional food, (including a kid-friendly menu) and an energizing environment, all the while helping to raise over $500 for El Marino.
Gyenari, http://www.gyenari.com/, 9540 Washington Blvd. (310.838.3131), next to Rush Street, brings a distinctive brand of flavorful Korean barbecue cuisine into the thriving culinary scene in Culver City. At Gyenari, diners with an ever-expanding taste for gastronomic adventure can enjoy their Korean barbecue with California influences, a notable wine program and innovative, Asian-inspired cocktails, set within a sleek, modern venue.
The Culver City Education Foundation will be hosting a community night at Gyenari in the coming weeks.
