Ms. Mitchell has had a working relationship with Mr. Clarke while serving previously in the state Assembly. She said she looks forward to continuing this relationship for four more years.

U.S., Rep. Karen Bass (D-Culver City) has also stated her support for Mr. Clarke.

Congresswoman Bass served in the Assembly from 2004 to 2010,  andshe was Speaker from 2008-2010 before winning the seat of retired Diane Watson in the House of Representatives.

Mr. Clarke won a seat on the City Council for an unprecedented two-year term just last year when, for the first time, voters elected four candidates.

Since he filled the unexpired term of a Scott Malsin, who resigned, this is why he is up for re-election so soon.

The theme for his last campaign was “Listening to your concerns, responding to your needs.” For the 2014 campaign, his theme is “Following Through.”
