One day after the Culver City Police Dept. announced a huge victory — the prime suspect in the long unsolved mysterious murder of Paul Bilodeau is in custody — the waters were roiling in executive quarters surrounding City Hall.

The latest:

• The School Board was expected to name an Interim Superintendent at tonight’s 7 o’clock meeting at District Offices on Irving Place. They will not. Monday is the re-scheduled date for an announcement. Admittedly, Board members are slicing the margin thin. Outgoing Supt. Dr. Myrna Rivera Cote officially leaves next week for the El Rancho Unified School District in Pico Rivera.

• Naming of the permanent City Manager tentatively remains on the agenda for Monday’s 7 o’clock City Council meeting at City Hall. The selectee has a labyrinthine path to travel between now and then, however, unhinging himself from his present employer and arranging to live in a new state.

• For days, the talk around West L.A. College has been that an Interim President — for the next 12 months — will be named any edition. Like Dr. Cote, the departing president, Dr. Mark Rocha, officially will finish next week. On Thursday, July 1, he begins a new assignment, as President of Pasadena City College.

• Finally, there is a fourth hometown office — which cannot yet be identified — where the swirling waters of restlessness are swimming faster and louder than usual. Still to be unraveled is exactly what these signals portend — change?
