Re “The City Clerk’s Race Is Growing More Colorful”

Dateline Carson – Unlikely as it is by the metrics of logic, Doneshia Gause, the City Clerk for Carson, is in the fight of her life to retain her job in the March 3 election.

Appointed less than two years ago to fill an unexpired term, Ms. Gause, a newcomer, is running against the mayor, Jim Dear, who is stepping – arguably down – from His Honor’s chair to the Who Is He/She? chair.

The reasons, he will explain shortly.

Glancing, the race, with 37 days left, may seem lopsided. But is it?

First, it is time for a commercial for the uninitiated, those unfamiliar with Mr. Dear’s high-stepping profile through the sometimes-mine field of city of Carson politics.

For the benefit especially of backers of Ms. Gause, Mr. Dear is not bashful about proclaiming, “I am a very effective campaigner. I have a lot of experience for many decades, helping other people get elected.

“Every time I run, I get a higher vote total.”

Surely this is a man worthy of serious scrutiny.
