Two and a half months before they are due back in a downtown courtroom, lawyers involved in the four community lawsuits against the oil drilling company PXP, quietly have been meeting, off-stage, and exchanging documents.
But with all parties sworn to major secrecy, the exact progress is difficult to measure.
“I think we are getting closer” to a settlement, Ken Kutcher, attorney and Culver Crest resident, told the newspaper.
Close enough to smell an agreement?
“Mmmm, I wouldn’t say that quite yet,” he answered.
Meanwhile, County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas has disseminated a slightly provocative summary (see attached pdf) of the most recent community forum he hosted regarding toughening the rules governing drilling in the Inglewood oil field.
