[img]2958|right|Yvonne Horton||no_popup[/img]Dateline Inglewood — In response to early supporters, Inglewood City Clerk Yvonne Horton today has committed to seek re-election to a fourth term.
Ms. Horton has served as City Clerk for the past 12 years, overseeing 24 elections.
During her three terms in office she has handled several complicated elections and issues, including an historical Wal-Mart initiative.
She has championed initiatives that have increased the transparency of the process, reduced the cost of operations, and improved customer service.
Ms. Horton already has received encouragement to run and endorsements from major officeholders, including Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, state Treasurer John Chaing, state Controller Betty Yee, U.S. Rep. Janice Hahn, U.S. Rep. Karen Bass, U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu, state Sen. Isadore Hall, Assembly members Autumn Burke and Mike Gipson, L County Supervisor Mark Ridley- Thomas, retired County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti, former Los Angles Mayor Villaraigosa, Inglewood Mayor James Butts, Inglewood Council members Franklin, Morales, and Dotson, Inglewood City Treasurer Wanda Brown, Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, Los Angeles City Council members Curren Price, Paul Kortez and Gil Cedillo and County Assessor Jeffery Prang.
“I am grateful for the support of so many community leaders,” said Ms. Horton. “Inglewood's greatest assets are its residents, and I am humbled to have been in a position to serve them.”
The Inglewood city clerk serves as the chief election officer, clerk to the City Council, keeper of contracts and official documents, and as a member of the Claims Review, Permits and Licenses Board. The office works with several bodies of law including the election code, Public Records Act, and Inglewood City ordinance.
