[img]2807|right|Marqueece Harris-Dawson||no_popup[/img]The Los Angeles County Young Democrats and the Stonewall Young Democrats have endorsed Marqueece Harris-Dawson for the 8th District seat on the Los Angeles City Council District.
Mr. Harris-Dawson is the most prolific endorsement recipient in the four-way race.
The L.A. County Young Democrats represent the largest organization in Southern California focused on giving young people a voice and a vehicle for activism in local, state and federal political issues. Stonewall Young Democrats is a political and professional organization chartered with the L.A. County Young Democrats that organizes LGBTQA youth within the Democratic Party to influence local and national political debates and elections.
Mr. Harris-Dawson, favored to win the seat that will be vacated by termed-out Bernard Parks, earned the endorsement of the Black Los Angeles Young Democrats early in his campaign. He continues to garner the support of leaders in the Democratic Party.
“I am proud to have the support of emerging leaders in the Democratic Party,” said Mr. Harris-Dawson. “Young activists are critical to the social justice movement.”
U.S. Reps. Karen Bass and Ted Lieu, state Sen. Holly Mitchell and Isadore Hall and state Assemblymembers Reggie Jones-Sawyer and Sebastian Ridley-Thomas have endorsed Mr. Harris-Dawson for City Council.
Nine Democrats on the City Council have also endorsed Ms. Harris-Dawson. He also has received endorsements from retired U.S. Rep. Diane Watson and retired City Councilperson Rita Walters.
Mr. Harris-Dawson is the President and CEO of the Community Coalition, a civil rights group in South L.A. that effectively organizes and advocates for better schools, safer neighborhoods, a fair share of services and a local government that is more responsive to the people.
