Any mom who can see her child through that ethereal of a lens – to borrow a favorite phrase of Supt. Dave LaRose – must be professionally and personally suited to lead one of the most diverse campuses in Los Angeles.

Ms. Cooper, owner of a bouquet of red roses personality, is in the middle of her second week as the interim principal of Culver City High School.

She was elevated to the penthouse after Dylan Farris accepted a promotion into the El Segundo School District.

In her 10th year on campus, her B.A. is in criminal justice, and she has been assistant principal for discipline – so behavior will not be allowed to slip, especially now that Ms. Cooper has graduated to the take-charge chair.

Especially since it was barely more than a month into the fall term.

“When Dylan notified the administrators he was leaving,” Ms. Cooper said placidly this afternoon, “we had a conversation to see if there was any interest. There was.”

Mr. Farris turned to the School District leadership, Mr. LaRose and administrators Leslie Lockhart and Katie Krumpe. After delivering his recommendation, Ms. Cooper was notified of her promotion.
