In celebration of America’s birthday, the Exchange Club of Culver City will host its 44th annual Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza, starting late on Saturday afternoon, at Culver City High School.
Gates open at 5 with the fireworks show starting at dusk.
The Police Dept. has spent this week reminding residents that Helms Field is the only place in town where fireworks are legal.
Helms Field is three blocks south of Culver Boulevard on Harter Avenue.
“Every year, we strive to make the next show better, and we think this year’s show will be the best one yet,” said Jeff Gillette, a longtime Exchange Club member and co-chairman of the event along with former Culver City Mayor Dick Brundo.
The fireworks display will be presented by Pyro Spectaculars, which has put on fireworks shows at Independence Day celebrations in Washington D.C., the Statue of Liberty and the 2000 Millennium celebration.
The company also presents the annual 4th of July fireworks display at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. Like years past, the Exchange Club 4th of July fireworks show is open to the public and will include live music, food concessions and plenty of picnic space for families with children of all ages.
The suggested donation is $2 for adults with children under 10 free. Parking is available for $5. For more information: 310.499.4840
