The Farewell Courtyard Concert

Thursday is Closing Night for the Summer Sunset Music Festival series, and the farewell concert at 7 o’clock in the Courtyard of City Hall will feature Zydeco music, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie. Mr. Delafose and his band are Louisiana boys, and it shows. Mr. Delafose was born into a family of Zydeco musicians in Louisiana. At the age of 7, he picked up the rubboard and joined the band of his father, John Delafose’s The Eunice Playboys. One day, a grown-up Geno would lead this colorful ensemble. Mr. Delafose fuses his Creole roots and modern voice through his multi-accordian attack. The French Rockin’ Boogie has tapped the wealth of inspiration its members found in the traditional Cajun and Creole repertoires. They have created their own rich gumbo of Cajun, Zydeco, rhythm and blues, country and blues. www.culvercitymusic.org or call the Summer Sunset Music Festival hotline at 310.253.5716.
