Can you believe the Summer Music Festival in the Courtyard of City Hall is almost over? Didn’t it just start last week?

Tonight at 7, on the next-to-last Thursday night of the season, producer Gary Mandell presents a drastic change of pace.

Following weeks of jet-paced Latino and American ethnic rhythms, the format moves to a more restrained tempo:

Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser, accompanied by the renowned cellist Natalie Haas, who will not remind you of any ensemble that has entertained during the last seven weeks.

Seating begins at 4:30.

The finale of the season next Thursday, on the eve of Fiesta La Ballona, will feature the only returning act from last season, the John Jorgensen Quintet, spotlighting Mr. Jorgensen’s hot gypsy jazz guitar.
