State Assemblyman Mike Feuer, a candidate for Los Angeles City Attorney, remained in intensive care as new details emerged about the car crash that sent him to the hospital.
A trauma team treated the 54-year-old Los Angeles politician after a Chevy Tahoe struck his Toyota Prius on the driver’s side Monday en route to the inauguration of Jackie Lacey as County District Attorney.
The other driver allegedly ran a red light. Mr. Feuer suffered multiple rib fractures, a bruised lung and spleen laceration, according to a statement from his campaign for Los Angeles city attorney.
Emergency personnel had to use the “Jaws of Life” to remove Mr. Feuer from the vehicle. He is in stable condition and recovering in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital. His injuries are not life threatening, according to his campaign. The statement said: “While his physicians have not yet determined a specific release date, Mr. Feuer anticipates being released soon. He’s looking forward to getting back to work soon.” Mr. Feuer is running against incumbent Carmen Trutanich in the March 5 city attorney race.
