Re “After Resigning, Dylan Farris Tells Why He Is Off to El Segundo”
Digging deeper into why principal Dylan Farris is leaving Culver City High School for the final time one week from this afternoon, not much spading was necessary.
What is the most appealing aspect of his new position as executive director of human resources for the El Segundo Unified School District, the part that says “I’ve got to have this”?
“I have really been influenced and impacted by the leadership of (Supt.) Dave LaRose,” Mr. Farris said.
“I aspire …. My most recent quote is, ‘I aspire to be Dave.’
“When I say that, I don’t mean I aspire to be a superintendent, which I do. But not just any superintendent. I aspire to be that guy.”
What does Mr. Farris want to emulate about Mr. LaRose?
“First and foremost, there is a sincerity and authenticity about everything he does and says. It all comes down to doing what is right by kids.
“What I have been most impressed by is his ability to convey a mission or a vision ad get everybody to buy in.
“We are more aligned than we ever have been in this district in terms of everybody understanding what our goals are here and what we are working toward.”
