Under the direction of Farragut Elementary school teacher Patricia Eskridge, members of the Culver City Lions Club were treated to a performance of holiday music last Thursday during their club meeting.

Forty students, from the third, fourth and fifth grades at Farragut, all wearing white gloves and a blue sash, started to learn how to read music only 2 1/2months ago.

They were also taught how to play the chimes and bells under the tutelage of Mrs. Eskridge, who volunteers her time to do this, and who is featured in the accompanying photos.

The students practice one day per week.

With costs of the bells normally running at $10,000 and the chimes costing $3,000 — with the pads extra —the Culver City Lions Club was a substantial contributor to their purchase.

Mrs. Eskridge thanked the club for their donation.

She also said that all the children present had been screened during the Culver City Lions’ annual eye sight screening program for visual impairments.
