[Editor’s Notes: Separate reports on two races in the Los Angeles city election of May 21.]
Further cementing the strong base of support he has attracted in the 9th District race for Los Angeles City Council, state Sen. Curren Price (D-Culver City) last night won the official endorsement of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.
After Mr. Price’s narrow win in the primary last week, the endorsement was expected since he is a member of the party establishment. Curiously, the party leaders refused to choose between either Democratic candidate for mayor, Eric Garcetti or Wendy Greuel.
“As Democrats, we are bound by our shared values, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion that makes our party so strong,” Mr. Price said.
“Voters from every community are excited by the promise of leadership, experience and integrity, and the party will play an important role in helping us take that message to every corner of the 9th District.”

On the heels of his impressive first-place showing in the city attorney race in the primary, Mike Feuer picked up endorsements from two influential leaders, Democrat Assemblyman Steve Bradford and Republican former Assemblyman Cameron Smyth.
In an unprecedented performance against an incumbent, last week Mr. Feuer not only defeated Carmen Trutanich by 14 points, 44 percent to 30, he won 13 of the 15 City Council districts.
“Mike has been a passionate advocate for public safety,” Mr, Bradford said.
“Mike understands the importance of solving problems collaboratively,” said Mr. Smyth. “That includes working with leaders with different points of view to accomplish key goals.
In Sacramento when they were in the Assembly, “Mike and I worked across the aisle. We partnered on legislation that assured that seniors were protected by requiring nursing homes to post their quality-of-care ratings.” so many of our most trusted local leaders.”
In addition to having been the officially endorsed candidate of the County Democratic Party, Mr. Feuer's support base is reflected in his wide ranging support from grassroots activists, neighborhood leaders, business and labor groups, as well as several local Democratic and Republican elected leaders.
