Two signal developments in the Mike Feuer for City Attorney campaign:

Solidifying Mr. Feuer's perceived position as the frontrunner in the race, today his campaign announced it has brought in $1.2 million, and has cash on-hand of substantially more than $900,000 with the March 5 primary election 55 days away.

On the heels of his endorsement this week from former Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg and the announcement that he’s brought in more than $1.2 million for the primary election, today Mr. Feuer received a crucial environmental endorsement from the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters. This endorsement comes after Mr. Feuer previously won the Sierra Club endorsement.

“Two months before Election Day, Mike has a commanding lead in significant endorsements and funds raised,” said John Shallman, his chief strategist. “He is building a substantial network of grassroots support throughout Los Angeles. Momentum is building at just the right time.”

Signifying his broad grassroots and citizen-based support, the vast majority of Mr. Feuer's campaign contributions have come from individuals.  Of his more than 2,000 contributions to date, half were under $500.

Running Ahead

Beyond his substantial campaign war chest, Mr. Feuer has been leading the field in important endorsements, including support from respected elected leaders, Democratic Party groups, organized labor, public safety leaders and groups, community and neighborhood leaders, and groups representing women, environmentalists and the LGBT community.

As for the League of Conservation Voters endorsement:

“Mike Feuer is a proven environmental leader,” said League President Tom Eisenhauer. “He has authored groundbreaking legislation that will have lasting impacts for generations to come.

“He has an extraordinary record of fighting air and water pollution, of protecting open space, reducing cancer-causing chemicals in consumer products, and defending California's environmental quality laws. As City Attorney, Mike Feuer will be an effective environmental champion, leading the charge to prosecute polluters who harm residents and the communities they live in.”

Founded in 1976, the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters is dedicated to electing leadership in Los Angeles County to preserve, protect and enhance the environment. Endorsements are determined by an all-volunteer board.

The California League of Conservation Voters and other large environmental organizations have repeatedly recognized Mr. Feuer as a leader on environmental issues during his time in the state Assembly. Recently, Mr. Feuer was one of only seven state legislators to receive a 100 percent on the Sierra Club's legislative scorecard—and be named Environmental Champion by California League of Conservation Voters.
