Deens Will Honor Star Catcher at Council Meeting

[img]1348|left|Gary Carter||no_popup[/img]To honor Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter, who died a week ago today, baseball fans Charles and Susan Deen will make a presentation at Monday evening’s 7 o’clock City Council meeting in Council Chambers.

Promising they will be “baseball attired,” the Deens will offer a bat and ball autographed by Mr. Carter to Mayor Mehaul O’Leary, a huge sports fan, and Council members.

The significance: Mr. Carter was born here in 1954.

Shortly afterward, his family moved to Orange County, where he grew up.
