Back by popular demand, the annual Culver City Historical Society Picnic and Meeting on Wednesday, July 20, will be catered by the city’s own Santa Maria Barbeque Restaurant. A savory dinner will be cooked in the picnic area in Veterans Park by the restaurant’s owner, Jim Rodrigues, who will demonstrate the special techniques that have made his Downtown eatery so popular.
Chef Rodriques will grill choice tri-tip beef roasts and juicy, plump chickens, which he will serve with his special chili beans, potato salad, green salad, garlic bread, homemade cookies and soft-drinks.
Picnic-goers will meet at 5:30 for soft drinks and conversation, and dinner will be served from 6:30 to 7:30.
The price for this picnic dinner is $25 per person, and reservations are required. At the door, the cost will be $30. All Historical Society members, their family and friends, and the public are invited to attend. For reservations, call 310.253.6941, or email reservation to info@CulverCityHistoricalSociety.org, or send your name, phone number, and a check for $25 per person to Culver City Historical Society, P.O. Box 3428, Culver City, 90231-3428. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, July 13.
The event will feature festive barbeque music by the local Razzmatazz Dixieland Jazz Ensemble. There will be free gifts and lots of door prizes to add to the fun.
The Historical Society Board will hold a brief meeting to discuss upcoming programs and projects, as well as updates on the activities at the Archive and Resource Center.
The Center will be open for brief tours after the meeting and dining.
