Darkness is arriving noticeably earlier, the early mornings are growing cooler.

As of tonight at 7 o’clock, the weekly Summer Music Festival in the Courtyard of City Hall is down its final three performances of the season.

Last week there were two bands, and next Thursday two groups will perform.

But the only musicians in the limelight this evening are Cedric Watson and Bijoux Creole, Deep South tones not often heard in this neighborhood.

A combination of fiddle and accordion sounds first heard in the Louisiana bayou will whistle through the trees in the courtyard.

Says producer Gary Mandell:

“Watson and band create music with strong Creole roots and branch out into Cajun and Zydeco sounds.

“They recently received a Grammy nomination, and that has ensured them a place in the Louisiana cultural history books.”

Sometimes in his enthusiastic waxing, Mr. Mandell waxes a little esoterically, as when he said:

“Cedric is providing an effortless path to the future for the Lousiana Creole culture with his fine original creations and arrangements.”
