Farragut Elementary's Artworks!, the school's annual fundraiser supporting arts education, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month as Culver City parents seek to show that helping children get a well-rounded education is fun.
The date is Saturday, April 14, from 11 to 4, on Farragut’s campus.
Artworks! has three components. The entire community is invited to Farragut for a free celebration of arts education in Culver City schools.
Families may choose from a menu of performances, workshops and art happenings. Lunch, desserts and coffee will be available for purchase. Groups from schools throughout Culver City will take the stage, as well as the Street Drum Corps and a group of pro skateboarders.
Workshops range from candle-making to RockSTAR to a group art piece entitled “Metropolis III,” a student version of a piece on display at LACMA.
For the convenience of community members, the Artworks! online auction is open for business from Sunday, April 14, through Wednesday, April 24, at FarragutFanClub.org.
Three hundred items are available – among them, vacations, restaurant gift cards, movie and sports collectibles, fine art, kids' camps. For those interested in a cooking class with a renowned pastry chef or in tickets to see Justin Bieber, the range of choices is wide.
On Saturday evening, April 20, the Artworks! 10th Anniversary Soiree is a grownups-only party at the Fresh Paint Art Gallery, Culver City. Dinner, drinks, a DJ and live jazz form the backdrop for the 7 o’clock to 11 party.
The event sells out every year, and tickets are available now at FarragutFanClub.org.
