On the 96th anniversary of the Girls Scouts of the USA and in recognition of Girl Scout Week, the City Council last week honored three representatives of the Angeles Girl Scout Council, Melody Nishida, who is president of the Council’s Board of Directors, and two Scouts, Jennifer and Kristina Schultz.

Some 9700 girls and 6,000 adult volunteers belong to the Angeles Council, which covers more than 100 communities.

During this month, individual troops commemorate the birthday of the national organization with service projects and activities, and their trademark Girl Scout cookie sale, which ends on Sunday.
