Second-time contender Jeff Cooper’s tentative Election Night victory over first-time candidate Meghan Sahli-Wells for the second seat on the City Council was confirmed at 5:45 this afternoon when 436 late-arriving ballots were counted in Council Chambers. Mr. Cooper’s margin shrank from 42 votes on Tuesday to 31 today. He finished with 2,486 votes, Ms. Sahli-Wells, 2,455. Incumbent Scott Malsin was the top votegetter with 2,911 votes, successfully defending his seat to earn a second term. Mr. Cooper and Mr. Malsin will be sworn in at the next City Council meeting, Monday, April 26, at 7 o’clock in Council Chambers.
