Come tomorrow night, City Councilman Jeff Cooper and Rafia, his wife of 30 years, will embrace what has become a New Year’s Eve tradition.

They will play it conservatively.

“We will go to a friend’s house and hunker down with a couple of other couples,” the Councilman said this morning.

“We will be staying off the streets. As I affectionately like to refer to New Year’s Eve, it is Amateur Night.”

Like most Americans, “I look forward to New Year’s every year,” Mr. Cooper said, flashing his trademark cherubic smile. “Look forward to being with good friends, enjoying good food and good champagne.

“Thinking only good thoughts of having a great year in 2015 not only for myself but for the city of Culver City.”

Regarding resolutions, Mr. Cooper said that “I hope to keep all of my priorities in line.

“My family comes first, and then a good healthy and wealthy new year,” said the friendly banker.

Tomorrow: He will cite a political goal.
