City Councilman Jim Clarke, running for his first full four-year term, is buoyed by the organizational endorsements he has received in recent weeks.

Early endorsements came from U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Culver City) and state Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Culver City), in addition to the Chamber of Commerce and the Culver City Democratic Club.

The County Federation of Labor AFL-CIO and the County Democratic Party also voted to endorse Mr. Clarke.  In recent weeks, the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter, the Culver City Employees Assn., the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters, the Los Angeles Business Federation, the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Assn. of Realtors, and Southern California Americans for Democratic Action have added their names to the roster of supporters.

“I am grateful for the outpouring of support throughout the community,” Mr. Clarke said. “It is reaffirming that the neighbors I meet on my (almost daily) walks around the city, the endorsing organizations who interviewed the candidates, they think I have been a responsible Councilmember. They want me back. “

Mr. Clarke will be guest of honor, one week from tonight, at a fundraiser, from 6 o’clock to 7:30, at the Culver Hotel.

There still is time to make a reservation, a must due to space limitations. Ronnie Jayne will provide the entertainment, there will be an abundance of hors d’oeuvres, a no-host bar, silent auction prizes and surprises.  Cost is $50 a person or $80 per couple (couple of what doesn’t matter).  RSVP at http://clarke4council2014.com/rsvp.

Mr. Clarke won a seat on the council in 2012 when, for the first time, four out of five seats were open.  Since he was elected to the unexpired term of a resigned Council member, that is why he is up for election after only two years.

Residents are invited to join him on facebook-Clarke4Council2014, and on Twitter @Clarke4Council.
