Re “City Manager’s Bi-Weekly Update to the Community”
Public Works Dept.
Sewer Lining Update – As part of the $4 million citywide sewer rehabilitation project, the city’s contractor is scheduled to start relining the sewer line on Braddock Drive, from Sawtelle Boulevard to Overland Avenue, during the week of June 24. It is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Trenchless lining rehabilitation technology will be used to minimize construction impacts to the public. However, the contractor will need to excavate and construct access pits every 700 feet along Braddock Drive so that the equipment and lining material can be installed. Because of the existing sewer main alignment, segments of westbound Braddock Drive (2 or 3 blocks at a time) will be closed to traffic during construction working hours. Detour signs will be posted. Typical construction hours are 8 to 5, Monday through Friday. Emergency vehicles and local residents will have access at all times. PAll lanes will be open during non-working hours.

Trash/Recycling Receptacles – Seventy-seven trash/recycling split receptacles (a single receptacle for both trash and recycling) have been installed. They are nearly identical to the 18 receptacles placed as part of the Sepulveda Area Improvement Project. The only difference is that there is additional labeling on top of the containers for easier identification of the trash and recycling openings. Receptacles are along Sepulveda Boulevard, Washington Boulevard, and Washington Place.
Alley Maintenance – The department expects to begin its annual alley maintenance program next week. The work includes clearing all alleys citywide of weeds, performing surface grading to smooth out the dirt, watering the dirt alleys to minimize dust, and filling potholes on asphalt portions. To facilitate this work, the Department is asking the owners of properties adjacent to alleys to clear tree branches and other overgrown vegetation that is encroaching into
the alleys in advance. Completion date is August.

The work will require night-time closures of Robertson and Venice boulevards.
