At its December and January board meetings, Ballona Creek Renaissance (BCR), a Culver City-based nonprofit organization, elected officers, and also continuing and new Board and Advisory Council members.
Jim Lamm and Gerald Sallus were re-elected as President and Vice President, respectively.
Richard S. Hibbs, CPA and a past Chair of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce, is BCR’s new Treasurer. David R. Valdez Jr., attorney and runner/bicyclist, is its new Secretary. Both are newly elected board members.
Michele Bigelow, an active and experienced environmental volunteer and staff person, joins the Advisory Council, along with outgoing board member Scott Malsin, a City Council member. Creekside resident June Walden also has left the board but will continue as BCR’s wetlands docent and a key educator.
All continuing and new board members expressed thanks for the longtime contributions of outgoing board members Mr. Malsin, Ms. Walden and of outgoing Secretary/Treasurer Bobbi Gold.
After years of stellar service as in her dual officer role, Ms. Gold now looks forward to focusing on the newsletter and web site. In Mr. Lamm’s eyes, “All these volunteer leaders will really help Ballona Creek Renaissance in the coming year as we clean, green, and teach—connecting creek and community.”
