At last week’s City Council meeting, the members honored Culver City High School students in the vaunted Academy of Visual and Performing Arts program for producing an award-winning film. At the Big Bear Film Festival last September, the film “819” was judged to be the best student-produced movie.
“819” has been submitted for consideration to Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival, presently underway.
The 13-year-old Academy of Visual and Performing Arts program has been expanded this school year to include more than 200 students, 50 workshops, 30 teachers, 25 programs.
Next Friday and Saturday, show biz-minded students will stage the 11th Frost Film Festival at the Frost Auditorium on campus.
