On the 25th anniversary of their founding, the Friends of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center will celebrate the milestone event at the group’s annual major fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Culver City.

Three community members will be honored at the event for their efforts in support of children and families.

Judy and Michael Bauer, two of the honorees, are 36-year residents of Culver City. They have worked with many nonprofit community organizations toward the betterment of the city.

Judy Bauer is a founder of the Culver City Education Foundation, and she has dedicated herself to raising funds for the enrichment of School District programs.  Michael Bauer has served on many boards and committees, contributing his time and expertise to resolving community issues.

Their many years of support of the Health Center have assured the continuation of services for the hundreds of students who visit the Health Center each year.

Dave LaRose, superintendent of the School District, is the third honoree.  As an advocate for educating the “whole child,” assuring each student in each school is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged, he is one of the Health Center’s greatest supporters.

The evening event begins at 5:30 with a silent auction, music provided by Ronnie Jayne, well-known entertainer and Culver City resident, a no-host bar, and continues with dinner, a performance by the Culver City High School Jazz Combo, and a live auction.  Cost is $100 per person, $110 at the door.  Contact Sarah Carpenter at 310.837.3734 or Sue Mitchell at 310.559.5681.

A unique online auction that begins Saturday and continues until Feb. 10  will be part of the fundraising effort.

The Friends group serves as the fundraising arm of the Health Center.  All proceeds from the event go to the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center on the campus of Culver City Middle School and Culver City High School.  The Center is operated by the Venice Family Clinic and provides free, quality health care for Culver City students.  Among services are physicals, immunizations, vision and hearing tests, care for ongoing illnesses and conditions, and mental health counseling provided by the Los Angeles Child Development Center.
