They want to stop with the movie that was made about his life.

The McKenna claims and the McKenna record don’t quite travel parallel paths, Fred MacFarlane, consultant to the campaign of underdog Alex Johnson, maintains.

Stepping into explosive territory, Johnson campaign flyers have talked about child abuse cases that have occurred during Mr. McKenna’s various watches.

“Maybe they don’t want to talk about Inglewood,” he said, “because it doesn’t match up to the success he had as a principal at Washington Prep.

“The McKenna campaign should have told voters, ‘Oh, by the way, here are the top 10 things Mr. McKenna accomplished at Inglewood Unified School District. All schools improved under his administration. Fiscally, he left the district in sound fashion. He was so highly regarded by the end of his tenure that the Compton Unified School District sought him out to do a similar reclamation in that troubled school district.

“They don’t want to talk about what Mr. McKenna did in Compton. They don’t want to talk about Compton except to identify that he was there.”

What is the core problem with his opponent?

“He may have tried his best in Inglewood, but his best was not good enough,” Mr. MacFarlane said.
