The shortest, sourest story of the afternoon:
The popular Thursday night Summer Concert Series, a fixture and a contentious argument for almost two decades, may officially die on Monday night.
Its fate is written in neon on the City Council’s 7 o’clock agenda.
The Concert Series’ funding source has dropped dead.
After last week’s State Supreme Court ruling that plunged Redevelopment Agencies head first into an empty swimming pool, the series managed through most of its history by Boulevard Music owner Gary Mandell, is on a death watch.
It receives close to $80,000 from the Redevelopment Agency for the eight-week extravaganza that often attracts capacity audiences.
