Dr. Sarkis Aznavour is sponsoring a Halloween Candy Buyback Program, which means he actually is collecting — with the help of readers — candy from trick or treaters in exchange for cash. To benefit American military troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Here is how it works:
Next week, Monday through Friday, Dr. Aznavour’s Newhall office, 24242 Lyons Rd., will be open from 9 until 5. He promises to pay $1 for every pound of candy driven to his office. The payoff is that all of the candy collected will be mailed to the troops “Not only will it save your teeth,” says the 32-year-old dentist, “our troops that are serving our country overseas will be able to enjoy a Halloween away from home.
“One of the prominent strengths of our country has been ‘people helping people. During these hard economic times, the spirit of giving and helping is needed more than ever.”
