Editor's Note: Mark Langston writes in with an urgent message regarding a stolen dog.
This is an email from a friend whose dog, Hambone, was stolen.
Please help him in any way that you can, and post these flyers that he has made.
This dog is an ambassador for his breed and a wonderful pet.
Just think how you would feel if it were your dog. Thank you.
The email:
Dear friends and fellow dog lovers:
As many of you already know, Monday night my dog, Hambone, was taken from the 7-11 store at the northeast corner of Yucca and Cahuenga, in Hollywood.
He was taken away in a SMALL GREEN VAN with a "W2" painted on the side and a light rack on the roof.
The last few days have been trying, to say the least.
Losing a dog (having it stolen, actually) blows.
Too bad life is not a country and western record where you can play it backward and get your pooch back.
Thanks to everyone who has reached out with your thoughts, wishes, comments and suggestions.
And to the people who don't even know me, who have lobbed calls and emails of support — much love to you.
I would like to thank each of you individually.
Alas, I've rec'd several hundred email responses today, and I need to keep working on finding my dog, my boy, Hambone.
So, please, take this as one giant “thank you.”
It's amazing to see the good side of human nature when the chips are down. Several of you have asked me some solid questions and made some great proactive suggestions as to an effective plan of attack. Check it out below:
• We have begun to contact area vets. Problem is, there are so many. It's tough to hit them all. If someone has a line on how to get all of the vets canvassed, I'm open to suggestion.
• We have begun to contact shelters and rescue org's — rescue org's are pretty well taken care of. Can someone volunteer with help on the shelters, humane society locations, ASPCA, PETA, etc.?

We have contacted the police, and they were with me at the scene. They're into it.

I have attached a PDF file of a flyer… please feel free to print it up, and strategically place a few in your neighborhoods. I'd like you even more if you did.
Here's a quote/testimonial from a responder… "OMG!!! I met this guy and his dog at the Laurel dog park about a month or so ago. The name Hambone was so unusual that I knew exactly who you were talking about before I opened the picture. I hope he finds his dog, Hambone was very well behaved and trained. Such an ambassador for the breed. I'll forward this to everyone I know."
Thanks again to everyone for your unwavering prayers and support!
