Ridley-Thomas’s Call for an Audit of Metro Reveals Out-of-View Issues
The County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has spent tens of millions of dollars in legal fees in recent years and had few controls in place to evaluate or limit the expenditures, according to an audit released by the agency’s Inspector General. The audit was a response to a motion introduced by County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Mayor Villaraigosa at a Metro meeting last February.

Dog Park Will Remain Closed
As City Hall announced two weeks ago, the Dog Park has been closed since Tuesday, Sept. 28 due to the seepage of liquid and the presence of very low concentrations of methane gas (which, according to the city’s consultants, do not pose a risk to public health or safety).

Unanimous approval was given yesterday to a motion that County Supervisors say will strengthen the regulation of Mobile Food Facilities, while at the same time, educate the public and encourage mobile vendors to offer healthy alternatives to consumers throughout the County.
