Correcting a King Day Comment on Schools

During the course of last Sunday’s Martin Luther King Jr. program at the Senior Center, a question was asked regarding racism and treatment of students in the schools.

As I didn’t record the exact question, I am reacting to the answer given by Jose Ramon Montero. I admire Jose Ramon. My youngest son had him as his kindergarten teacher, and he worked with him as a Spanish student at Culver City High School as well. I also truly admire Jose Ramon’s efforts to bring the students to the very real understanding that they can make a difference, that nothing should stand in their way of making that difference. After absorbing the tools, Jose Ramon empowers them to incorporate the lessons into their very being. They WILL make a difference.
