It’s a Wonderful Life — or Is It?

Living in Culver City, California, gives me some kind of relief from Large Metroplis Overload. It is cozy enough gives me the intimate charm of a small town.

Kind of makes me feel like the Jimmy Stewart character in the movie classic that seems to play every year around Christmastime, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” George Bailey, as played by Stewart, lived in a charming small city. But he wanted to see the world, from Tripoli to French Tahiti and beyond.

With a traveling suitcase in hand, he was ready to leave home and explore the world. But George turned back in a crucial moment of need to savie his small and charming town while sacrificing his dreams about the world.

Just like George Bailey, I, too, let go of my vacation in a small, secluded city in Baja California.

I needed to write this account of a true story happening in Culver City.

Repentance is more than saying you are sorry. It is radically turning away from old and harmful ways.
The Jewish principle of t¹shuvah, redeeming one¹s self, directs a person to turn away from wrong and to do good.
A few years ago, I used this concept of t¹shuvah to write a children¹s book called The Dream Neighborhood, imploring youths of my community to stay away from their local gangs.
