Miracle Project Fundraiser at the Synergy
The Miracle Project, a not-for-profit theatre and fine arts program designed for children with autism and other special needs, will host a fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 26, 3 to 5 p.m., at the Synergy Café and Lounge, 4455 Overland Ave., Culver City.
The Miracle Project, founded by on-set children’s acting coach of “Akeelah and the Bee”, Elaine Hall Katz, teams a dozen special needs children, ages five to fourteen, and a few typically developing peers and siblings with a group of seven to ten professional actors and musicians who have trained to be volunteers.
During the twenty-two-week program, the children explore improvisation, movement, character development, singing and rhythm. The workshop culminates in a live performance written, produced, rehearsed and performed by the children and staff.
