Harvest Plants Terrific Idea in Minds of Linwood Howe Students
A group of Linwood Howe Elementary students was invited last Wednesday by Leslie Adler at the Culver City Education Foundation to help harvest the vegetables in the front of the Lyfe restaurant kitchen. From the accompanying photo, you can see how happy 14 of them were at the outing co-hosted by Lyfe and Harvest to Home.
AVPA Artists Exhibit at the Brewery Art Walk
Thirty visual artists from the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Culver City High School will be exhibiting their artwork at the Brewery Art Walk next weekend, on Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, from 11 to 6. The Brewery is just north of downtown Los Angeles, 2100 N. Main St.
Chabola Stadium Becomes Official in Two Days. Bumpus Hailed, Too
At Friday night’s football game against Bishop Amat, Culver City High School will rename its newly renovated football field Jerry Chabola Stadium, honoring the school’s longtime athletic director in a halftime ceremony. The Centaurs also will retire the No. 5 jersey of Michael Bumpus, named the CIF Division X Player of the Year in 2003.

Painting a Rosy Picture at LaBallona on Saturday Morning
A major celebration on Saturday Morning at LaBallona Elementary School. The Siqueiros Foundation of the Arts is announcing its first mural project – to be installed at La Ballona. The La Ballona Education Partners, in collaboration with the Siqueiros Foundation of the Arts, has commissioned local muralists Ernesto Del La Rosa, Juan Carlos Munoz Hernandez, Fabian Debera, Relic, Anna Siqueiros to install the new mural on Saturday morning, starting at 9.
Middle School Troupe Will Improvise 4 Times Over the Weekend
The Culver City Middle School Comedy Improv troupe will deliver four performances this weekend, on Saturday at 3 and 7. Andf Sunday, at 1 and 4, at the Willows Community School Theater, 8520 Warner Dr., Culver City. Each performance will feature a different group of students.
Hard-boiled or Soft-Boiled, El Rincon Is a Good, Ol’ Egg
Students in Allison Pryharski's third-grade class barely could contain their, ahem, egg-citement when Egg Drop Thursday finally came to El Rincon School. The class was learning about the scientific method in preparation for the Science Fair. They began with a hypothesis stating they could make a type of device that would protect an egg from breaking when dropped from the second-story balcony.

Farragut Elementary's Artworks!, the school's annual fundraiser supporting arts education, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month as Culver City parents seek to show that helping children get a well-rounded education is fun.
