Oil Industry Swings Back at the Vice Mayor’s Fracking Charges
Vice Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells has made some pretty alarming claims about hydraulic fracturing in recent days, but readers of thefrontpageonline.com should know that – as is the case with many extreme activists' allegations – reality tells a different story. “I am talking about information scientifically based, not from activists.” That is how Ms. Sahli-Wells describes the research she cites as “proof” of harm from hydraulic fracturing. A closer examination shows that this is not the case.
After Brown, What Is Left for the Anti-Fracking Partisans to Say?
Gov. Brown has counted on the support of many environmental groups – such as the Sierra Club and the California League of Conservation Voters – for decades. He is widely recognized as one of the nation’s strongest advocates for renewable energy. It will be interesting to see what kind of conspiracy theories the activists come up with now to explain Gov. Brown’s full-throated endorsement of state regulators to oversee oil and gas development and the use of hydraulic fracturing in a way that provides our state with the energy it needs and the environmental protection that Californians demand.
Fracking from the Other Side: Brown’s Rejection of a Ban
First of two parts. For months, ideologically motivated activists have been running a fact-less fear campaign against oil and gas development and lobbying local officials to support a statewide ban on the use of hydraulic fracturing. The most recent example, according to the activists, was a March 20 symbolic resolution in favor of a hydraulic fracturing moratorium from the Los Angeles Community College District’s Board of Trustees. To get that resolution passed, I am betting the activists concealed many facts from the trustees, facts that show hydraulic fracturing is a proven technology that’s been safely used for more than six decades.
