Why We Chose the Edge
[Editor’s Note: The two letters below, from parents of children on the Edge Swim Club, echo the ongoing debate over how time should be apportioned for youth competitive swim teams at The Plunge.]
Dear City Council members:
Our family has had a daughter on the Edge Swim Club for the past three years. At that time, after a search for a team, we were thrilled to find the Edge, not only because the pool is close to our Carlson Park house, but because the philosophy of Patrick Moran toward his swimmers and their families meshed with the philosophy of my husband and me about the whole child. We wanted a team that was competitive and yet appreciated all facets of raising a child, in addition to having a strong dedication to the Culver City community. My daughter is able to do well in her school work, piano and Latin team because the swim team coaches support her in all ways. Going to swim practice is something she looks forward to everyday. Her motivation to swim the miles she does every week has only increased. She recently, qualified for her second Junior Olympics event.
