A Graduation Moment to Remember
[Editor’s Note: In the three weeks since School Board President Saundra Davis addressed the graduates of Culver City High School, she has received an uncommon number of kudos for an uncommonly insightful, pragmatic speech. It is presented here in its entirety.]
First, I’d like to say a word of appreciation to Superintendent McGaughey, Principal Pam McGee, members of the School Board, distinguished faculty and staff (the men and women of vision and courage who have created the scholarly climate that has made Culver City High the school it is today). I offer a very special tribute to the proud and relieved parents and relatives of the 2006 graduates, I say hooray because, in spite of the controversial High School Exit Exam, we have 478 students graduating in this class. I am deeply honored to welcome all of you as I humbly offer congratulatory words this evening.
It is my sheer delight to participate in the Culver City High School 2006 graduation. As graduates, I must say that you have distinguished yourselves as the most determined, the brightest and the best. You have paved a road for success and proven that your determination has led to this great day of achievement. This is but another milestone in your lives that distinguishes you as gifted, persevering, and strong minded with promise and great purpose for yourselves and for your future endeavors.
