Oregon and Florida State will be led by the last two Heisman Trophy winners. Newsmaking Jameis Winston, last year’s winner for Florida State, and Marcus Mariota, who won last month for the Ducks, will use their arms and legs to try to put their teams into the first playoff finals in college history.

Culver Boys’ Basketball Team Hopes to Break Losing Streak

The Culver City High School boys basketball team is looking to snap a four-game losing streak this weekend when they travel to the San Gabriel Valley to play in a holiday tournament. The Centaurs will battle Arroyo from El Monte on Friday at 4, Blair from Pasadena on Saturday at 5:30, and Aquinas from San Bernardino on Monday at 5:30.

Lady Centaurs Win the Culver City Basketball Tournament

The Culver City High School girls’ basketball team started their season with a 38-25 win over Crossroads of Santa Monica/St. Mary in the Culver City Basketball Tournament. Their next two games in the tournament were against St. Bernard and Los Angeles View Park. They ran past St. Bernard 77-36, and they beat View Park for the championship, 56-47. The 12-team tournament ended on Saturday.

Centaurs Beat Beverly Hills to End Season on a Happy Note

The Culver City High School football team scored 28 points in the second half, routing host Beverly Hills, 41-12, last Friday night to end their season with a two-game winning streak. Those two games advanced the Centaurs into fourth place in the six-team Ocean League. They finished the season 2-8 overall, 2-3 in league. After the finale, Culver City players, coaches and fans looked relieved and happy in the same moment.
