Another Sunday Vets’ Rally, And More Reasons to be Inspired

Fellow Americans:

Yesterday, we held our eighth Sunday Rally to “Save Our Veterans Land” at the Los Angeles National Veteran’s Home.

Francisco Juarez’s raising the long string of American flags across the front of the fence was very patriotic, symbolic and inspiring.

Hardy Veterans Move from Rally to Rally on Sundays in...

A big thanks to the loyal Veterans and community supporters who showed up two days ago for the Fifth Sunday Rally, at the northeast corner of Wilshire and San Vicente in Brentwood, to save the National Veterans Home.

We urge all military Veterans to show up and support this noble cause. Do not neglect the enormous responsibility of saving the hallowed land of the National Veterans Land and passing it on to future generations of America’s military Veterans, just as previous generations have always done since 1888.

At ‘Save the Home’ Rally, Veterans Say the Giant Has Been...

Sunday afternoon’s public rally in Brentwood to “Save the Los Angeles National Veterans Home” is uniting fellow Veterans as no other cause has before.

The sleeping giant has awakened

The rally was the first of a series of weekly gatherings to stop the land-grabbing by non-Veterans — individuals and groups — and to issue “eviction notices” to all non-Veteran tenants on this hallowed land.

Veterans’ Rally Interrupted by Someone Who Should be on ...

[Editor’s Note: The public is invited to a Veterans’ rally, from 1 to 4, on Sunday afternoon at the corner of Wilshire and San Vicente boulevards, Brentwood, “to save the Los Angeles National Veterans Home.”]

Last Sunday, a group of loyal, grateful and patriotic Veterans and community supporters gathered to pay tribute and to thank John P. Jones and Arcadia B. de Baker for their benevolent Land Grant of 1888, 120 years ago.

Our Choices: Subway to the Sea in 30 Years or a...

Would you rather ride on a 14-mile subway to the sea 30 years from now or on a 70-mile Regional High-Speed Monorail to everywhere in less than 8 years?

“Change!” is the new campaign promise offered by all candidates of both political parties. However, history reminds us that whoever gets elected will eventually break his or her campaign promises. There will be just more of the same old, same old. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is perhaps the only politician who has ever kept a campaign promise, albeit a very skeptical and expensive one.

Mr. Brown: Open These Carpool Lanes, Tear Down Carpool Signs

History will record that the carpool lane instituted in the 1970s under then-Gov. Jerry Brown was one of the great frauds and social injustices ever perpetrated upon “we the people.”

It will record that for more than 30 years our government disenfranchised nearly 20 million of California’s non-carpooling motorists by purposely denying them equal access, equal participation and equal opportunity on our public-funded freeway system, simply because they drove alone in their own car out of choice or necessity.

A Challenge for Today’s Pols: Find Right Answer to Problems

"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future."

This was the wise counsel of President John F. Kennedy nearly a half-century ago. _

Today however, our elected representatives continue to promote a staunch and biased allegiance to their respective political parties, which has unfortunately created even more divisiveness than ever before.

Talking Back to Waxman — He Is at Fault

In his letter to the editor last week (“Defending Veterans,” Aug. 23), U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman is not defending Veterans so much as he is defending himself and those who already violate the terms of the Veterans Administration’s Deed of 1888.

Lest we forget, he has been the elected public servant for the 30th District for 33 years.

‘We the Veterans’ Are Seeking Support from ‘We the People’

Local Veterans are asking for the public's wholehearted support of their proposed Congressional bill stipulated as the "Los Angeles National Veterans Home Land Preservation Act of 2007.”

This is a no-nonsense, non-compromising bill, respectfully prepared by “We the Veterans,” an ad hoc committee of independent Veterans in the Los Angeles area.

Enforce Thought Control, not Gun Control

[Editor’s Note: This is in response to Frederik Sisa’s essay yesterday (“Mr. Sisa, on the Left, Says, ‘You’re promoting Guns by Blaming the Victim.”]

Over the years, there's something about the actions of gun-toting murderers that society hasn't been able to put its finger on.

However, some of us know the answer.

It's that "guns do not kill, people kill."

Yep, it's that simple!
