My Opinion
When We Knew We Had the Momentum
Twelfth in a series
[Editor’s Note: For more than 30 years, Denny Zane, 63-year-old visionary-philosopher-politician-arch activist in Santa Monica, has been in the forefront of shaping and influencing public policy and environment-related projects. This is a first-person account of that journey. Summing up the way he has morphed through a series of (always-linked) career changes, he said: “I got into the habit of making a living by pursuing my personal political priorities.” Now concerned with mass transportation, accent on light rail, his address is movela.com]

A Year of Overcoming, and of Some Joy
Hello, Culver City Friends:
When we looked over our Christmas list, we realized most of you have email addresses. Since we have been receiving greetings from some of our more technologically oriented friends, we decided to do the same and send our holiday letter out this year over the internet. Happy Holidays! Janet and Charley.

Holiday Greetings — 2010
Given all that is currently going on in the world around us, in this Christmas missive I would like to share with you a few things I have found most helpful to keep me centered, at peace and in joy:

‘A Culver City Officer Treated Me Despicably. He Is a Jerk.’
[Editor’s Note: We have received a report from a Mar Visa resident who began this way: “I had an
altercation with Culver City Police C Officer Kyle Houck a few weeks ago, and the Department has just given
him a free pass for his despicable,
inexcusable conduct toward me.
Below you will find the initial complaint letter and the letter sent when I received the Police Dept.’s decision.”]

I Choose Life, Especially Today
As we gather together today to mark and make meaningful this year's World Aids Day, in solidarity with other peoples of the world, we, as an African people, do so with a special and heightened sense of sorrow and seriousness, and an enhanced sense of urgency and challenge.
