‘Cruel Attack’ on Silbiger Is Decried

Re ‘As the County Says ‘Yes’ to City Hall, Never Underestimate the Influence of a Mob.’ Nov. 13.

Your attack on Vice Mayor Gary Silbiger is one of the most cruel items you have written.

You can disagree with someone (as you often do), without that kind of personal attack.

Culver City needs something to replace their contract with the Carson shelter.

Sorry to See Esterly Leave

Re ‘Farewell to a Comrade,’ Nov. 12. Keywords: Glenn Esterly.]

I, too, am sorry to hear that Glenn Esterly will be leaving the journalistic enclave reporting on Culver City.

Who Would Want to Manage This City After Seeing Querulous Council...

After watching the City Council meeting on Monday night, a few thoughts popped into my head.

1. If your dog is currently licensed in Culver City, animal control takes it to the SPCA in Hawthorne. If it has no tags it goes to Carson. At least this way if people really care about this issue, they will be induced to get their dogs tagged.

Why Isn’t City Hall Pursuing Regulation of Those Culver City Cats?

If Culver City needs to fill its coffers, as City Manager Jerry Fulwood said at last night’s City Council meeting, why is it passing on mandatory spaying, licensing and microchipping of cats?

On Animal Control, Fulwood and Staff Need to Remember Who Is...

Re ‘Fulwood, O’Leary on the Griddle Tonight Over Multiplying Animal Shelters,’ Nov. 10.

I do not know Deborah Weinrauch personally, but I am assuming she is a resident of Culver City. I know that City Council members Gary Silbiger and Chris Armenta are residents. I think City Manager Jerry Fulwood and his staff have lost sight of who they work for. They have chosen to publicly criticize their employer for performing work that city staff should have completed years ago.

Time for Real Change at Home

Los Angeles has voted overwhelmingly for President -elect Obama, and now it is time for change in L.A. city as well.

Our Mayor Villaraigosa once again is out of the city, "advising" the President-elect on economic issues.

Why Should We Pay? Everyone Should Be Outraged by the 4043...

I am shocked that Tuesday’s article about the Downtown Neighborhood Assn. (“Accord May Be Breaking Out Between Neighbors and Builders of 4043 Irving.” Keywords: Clinton Goldsmith.) was not titled “Citizens of Culver City Will Be Asked to Pay Money to Private Developer for Next Door Neighbor Concessions.”

Everyone in the city should be outraged by this supposed win-win.

Allegations of Payroll Records’ Scam in Torrance Provokes a Similar Accusation...

The City Council, City Attorney, and the Culver City community should take notice of a Page 1 story (“4 charged in parks kickback scheme”)in last Thursday’s Daily Breeze (dailybreeze.com) about city employees in Torrance arrested for theft.

A Vote for Ridley-Thomas

Being involved in community more than 20 years, and having worked with many politicians, I whole heartedly endorse state Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas as our next County Supervisor.

Corlin Performed a Useful Service, but He Left Out a...

Re ‘Exploring the Motivations of Supporters of an Animal Control Officer.’ Keywords: Alan Corlin/animal control

I think that the Culver City Friends of the Animal group owes Alan Corlin a debt of gratitude for his Oct. 24 letter to the newspaper. Mr. Corlin stepped up and validated the fact that the research for this program was completed several years ago. Also, Mr. Corlin’s research was very accurate and complete in reference to cost of the program.
