Dateline Dayton — As a followup to last week’s essay regarding gun control: According to a report I read, gun sales soared on Monday, Jan. 10. Sales in Ohio rose by about 65 percent, and nationwide they increased 5 percent. They rose 60 percent in Arizona.

Dateline Dayton — With the killings and serious injuries from the shootings in Arizona, we have been hearing a lot about gun control. Here in Ohio we had a Deputy Sheriff killed a couple weeks ago, and a 10-year-old boy killed his mother. Then there was the teenage who got a pistol belonging to his police officer father and killed the assistant principal and wounded the principal of his school.

Dateline Dayton — This past weekend we celebrated New Year’s. My New Year’s Eve day started with a Mass for our classmate Judy who had died earlier in the month. Four or us from the Class of 1959 attended the service in Piqua, and afterwards we went to breakfast.
