Oh my, oh my, our New York friends are really drama-prone
An earthquake only 5.8 has got them on the phone
To us in California who have lived through many worse
At 6.5 and 7.0 – we thought we might be cursed
But, actually the experience of living through so many
Has given us courage and the smarts to not act like a ninny
And now Irene, the tropical storm that began as a hurricane,
Has the East Coast media focused on the inevitable wind and rain
As they line up and interview political talking heads
Who discuss the storm hour after hour with lots of doom and dread
At the same time getting exposure in the media spotlight
While the rest of the news throughout the world is told it can just take a hike..!
