I heard someone asking “Why”
We should lend our support to Measure Y
And then I heard the answer back
Encouraging residents not to slack.
Because we need services like 9-1-1 –
Emergency help when we call it to come.
Our paramedics, fire and police protection
All need funding to stay in operation.
If we want sidewalk and street repairs
So we can roll down them in our wheelchairs,
We must make sure that there is enough money
To support parks, school kids and seniors or it won’t be funny!
The additional tax is very, very small
Five cents on ten dollars guarantees that all
These vital local services will stay
Yet it’s not the residents who’ll pay
But visitors who dine and shop in Culver City
Which makes the whole idea very, very pretty!
So citizens of Culver City, look deep into your hearts
And realize that we have to do our part
By voting in favor of Measure Y …
Saying “Yes” to keep our city services…that’s “Why”!
