Do you know you're looking at a RubberBand?

The weather and the mood will be dramatically different tomorrow evening at 7 when the 19th edition of Culver City’s Boulevard Music Summer Festival – the title is longer than some songs – heads into its second week in the spacious Courtyard of City Hall.

Gone are the unusual early-summer leaden skies that Frowned on Opening Night when a cappella entertainment and a blues singer headlined producer Gary Mandell’s program.

This time, it is the cleverly named Ryan Shupe & The RubberBand eclectically blending country, bluegrass, rock and jazz.

They perform regularly at festivals and concert series across the country, says Mr. Mandell, “with a crossover style that is fresh and unlike others.

“They put on a great show that is unique, creative, and entertaining.

Playing a wide range of instruments and musical styles, the band appeals to youth and college-age crowds while maintaining a strong appeal to everyone.

“Their stellar musicianship, witty lyrics, funny antics, singalongs, and introspective ballads take the audience on a rollercoaster. With amazing and versatile musicians, Ryan Shupe’s original songs are highlighted with hot instrumental solos. tight vocal harmonies, thoughtful lyrics, rapid-fire vocals, dynamic musicianship and hard driving arrangements that make the show a winner.”

RubberBand’s unique style, which combines influences from four different genres provides a texture that MTV says, “evokes images of Dave Mathews Band gone bluegrass.”
